Today I Pretend
...like Hurricane Joaquin really is hitting the DC area, and I'm forced to sit at home.
Sitting.
That has never been easy for me. I abhor being idle and sitting around. There's so much life to live, and I want to live it! Take for instance, this weekend. Earlier this week, when the news of Hurricane Joaquin hit the airwaves, I was excited because this meant that I would be forced to sit at home and be a lazy slug.
It was yesterday when I realized that not only was the Hurricane going to miss us, but that it wasn't even supposed to rain on Saturday! Joaquin, you disappoint me. Although I lounged about this morning (I realize it is currently 9:50 AM, still morning...but I've been up for 3 hours), I watched "Iris" on Netflix. "Iris" is a documentary about legendary style icon and artist, Iris Apfel. It's quite good, and I learned I'm much more like Mrs. Apfel than I previously knew. Which is a huge compliment to me. :) As I watched the documentary, I got the urge to go thrifting and find some gems of my own...forgetting the pact I made with myself to stay in this weekend. It wasn't until about 20 minutes ago that I decided to be a lazy slug, be a true Taurean woman and indulge with my morning ramen, hard cider and crack open "I'll Never Write My Memoirs."
Madame Grace, where will you take me today??
No better way to spend a faux-rainy Saturday than with two aging icons.
